Luca Durán links with Kelman Duran and Gavsborg for “Lejanía,” the lead single from his forthcoming album, Killing Mariposas, arriving via TraTraTrax. Following a string of appearances on the label, Killing Mariposas marks Luca Durán’s first full-length studio album for TraTra. Drawing from the contradictions and connections of the diasporic experience, the record brings rhythm-heavy club forms into contact with the experimental textures of Durán’s European musical education. Field recordings, acoustic instrumentation and analogue synthesis sit alongside forward-thinking production, moving between moments of contemplation and outright euphoria. Across the album, traces of cumbia, reggaetón and dembow emerge through fragmented, memory-like electronics, with collaborators including Kelman Duran, Gavsborg, Iceboy_Violet, Debit, Rosa Pistola, BÉBE YANA, Kamohelo, kacha and SAM-E helping expand its world.
