Tra Fasi

Tra Fasi (which is Surinamese for “in a different way”) offers a rare glimpse into the alternative (music) culture of Suriname, a world that is often overlooked. The documentary highlights Shavero's daily life and his efforts to organize an event for Suriname's outcasts.

The film not only showcases Shavero's musical journey but also the profound impact he has on the youth and the community around him. Despite facing challenges, Shavero continues to strive for the success of this event. He feels a sense of responsibility to provide a platform for emerging talent in Suriname; without him, this scene would not be able to flourish.

The creators have launched a fundraiser to provide a platform for the alternative scene in Suriname and give Shavero's career a boost and this needs to be part of the documentary as well. With this initiative, they aim to show the world that there are also alternatives in Suriname, which are hard to find. The project targets people who love punk/rock as well as those who are unfamiliar with it, from young to old. They want to bring Suriname to the Netherlands in a fresh and unique way, introducing a new sound.

They already filmed 15 days in Suriname and started a fundraiser to get Shavero to the Netherlands and finish the movie with him. Also they want to bring Shavero to the Netherlands to connect with alternatives, make music and perform as much as he can.

With this fundraiser, they hope to raise as much money as possible to elevate the documentary to the next level and put Suriname on the map. They want people to seek out this subculture the next time they visit Suriname.
